Scrabble Word Solver Tutorials

The Scrabble Word Solver is very simple to use.  All you have to do is enter your letters that match your tiles into the Rack field and hit the Search button.  But if you want to get a little more advanced with your searches, you can use the prefix, suffix or anywhere filters.  Below are tutorials for each of them, followed by some additional advanced tutorials on how to use the solver for even more advanced gameplay.

Prefix Tutorial

In this example, we are going to use the Prefix advanced search on Scrabble Word Finder.  If you look at the screenshot of the board in play you will see in the top right corner of the board, the word TIN is already on the board.  We want to play off the T, to the right to hit the 2 TL (triple letter) spaces.  The area that we want to play in is highlighted by the red box we have added on top of the game board.  Your rack letters are: EHLORTT.  Enter your 7 letters plus the T in the Rack field: EHLORTTT.  (That’s 3 Ts, since you have 2 in your rack and there is already one on the board, that you are playing off of).  In the Prefix field enter: T.  Leave the Suffix and Anywhere fields blank.  This will return all words that you can spell with your letters that start with T, using the T already on the board.

Suffix Tutorial

In this example, we are going to use the Suffix advanced search on Scrabble Word Finder.  If you look at the screenshot of the board in play you will see on the far right side, the word TRAINS is already on the board.  It conveniently sets you up to use the S at the end of TRAINS as the last letter of your word to play on the TW (triple word) space, two spaces above.  The area that we want to play in is highlighted by the red box we have added on top of the game board.  Your rack letters are: EGILRTU.  Enter your 7 letters plus the S in the Rack field: EGILRTUS.  In the Suffix field enter: S.  Leave the Prefix and Anywhere fields blank.  This will return all words that you can spell with your letters that end in S, so that you can play off the S.

Anywhere Tutorial

In this example, we are going to use the Anywhere advanced search on Scrabble Word Finder. If you look at the screenshot of the board in play you will see on the far right side, the word TRAINS is already on the board.  This is the same board as the one we used in the Suffix tutorial above.  Again, you are set up to use the S at the end of TRAINS to play off of.  This time we want to find a word that we can play that uses the TW (triple word) space, two spaces above the S, but also the DL (double letter) space, two spaces below the S.  The area that we want to play in is highlighted by the red box we have added on top of the game board.  Your rack letters are: ELKOPRT.  Enter your 7 letters plus the S in the Rack field: ELKOPRTS.  In the Anywhere field enter: S.  Leave the Prefix and Suffix fields blank.  This will return all words that you can spell with your letters that contain an S somewhere, so that you can play off the S at the end of TRAINS.  You’ll have to just scan through the results table to find the word that looks like it would be the highest point value.  Some good examples from the results are: PRESTO, RESPOT or ROSET.  All three of these words cover the TW and DL spaces on the board.
